In 2008 the Politecnico libraries purchased a total of 9.742 new books, split up among the different libraries as chart below shows: .
In 2009 the Library System acquired perpetual ownership of some packages of Springer e-books: 2009 Lecture Notes in Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics, and 2005-2008 collection "Computer science", in total 800 e-books.
Electronics and control- computer science library “Mario Boella” subscribed to ACM SIG package, that includes all ACM conference proceedings.

In 2009 the Library System increased e-journals collection: 904 new titles are available partly in Science Direct, Springer, IEL and IOP packages and partly by new subscriptions.
These new packages have been subscribed:
- ACM Digital Library e-journals Core Package (51 titles)
- Wiley-Blackwell Science, Technology and Medicine collection (STM) (767 titles)
- Nature online, with a 4 years backfile
All-in cost of new packages is € 38.045,81 (+ IVA).

Up to 31/12/2009 the subscribed on-line journals are 4.758.
Databases
In 2009, the Library System decided to maintain all databases subscriptions; the only change occurred to platform Chem-Bank, formerly SilverPlatter, and now Croner-i, and INSPEC, until 2009 available on EI Village and now subscribed on EIT platform.

In 2009 have been catalogued 2.686 degree theses: they are split up among the different libraries as chart below shows:

In addition, also 262 Ph.D. theses were catalogued, mostly by the Engineering Central Library (220).
Contemporary architects collections
After an accurate legal inquiry, Politecnico's Legal Office stated that Carlo Mollino Collection, now located in V. Ormea 34 branch office, due to the prescription law terms, belongs undoubtedly to Politecnico di Torino.
Archival material concerning Palazzo degli affari projected by Carlo Mollino has been catalogued by a Ph.D. Doctor in History of Architecture; now has been published the book: Il Palazzo degli Affari di Carlo Mollino : architettura d'autore nella storia della Camera di commercio di Torino / a cura di Elena Tamagno. - Torino : Edarte, stampa 2010.
Elena Tamagno, curator of contemporary architects collections, wrote an important essay on Politecnico's archival collections, published in Disegnare progettare costruire: 150 anni di arte e scienza nelle collezioni del Politecnico di Torino / a cura di Vittorio Marchis. - Torino : Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Torino, 2009.
